Enterprise QA & Business Analysis – Integrated Supplier Information System (ISIS)
Led enterprise QA/BA for Boeing Canada’s ISIS, delivering award-winning test management and agile transformation across critical projects.
Understanding the Challenge
Boeing Canada (AeroInfo) faced the significant challenge of delivering and optimizing complex enterprise-level IT projects, notably the Integrated Supplier Information System (ISIS), which was critical for thousands of global suppliers. As Test Lead and Business Analyst, the demand was to manage the complete test lifecycle across multiple, intertwined projects, ensuring functionality, integration, and user acceptance testing were meticulously performed. This included transitioning from legacy systems, modernizing QA tools, and fostering agile practices within diverse, global teams to ensure high-quality releases and sustained system performance post-deployment, all while maintaining rigorous compliance and audit readiness.
Key Contributions & Outcomes
Our multi-faceted contributions were pivotal in the success of Boeing Canada’s enterprise projects:
Enterprise-Scale QA Leadership: I directed both onshore and offshore QA teams, successfully delivering comprehensive functional, integration, and UAT testing for complex enterprise systems. This encompassed leading six functional test cycles, covering approximately 750 test cases and over 8,000 individual test steps.
UAT & Optimization Phases: I led three distinct UAT test cycles and significantly contributed to the sustainment and optimization efforts post-deployment. This ensured that the applications, particularly ISIS, remained highly scalable, secure, and continuously aligned with evolving business requirements.
Award-Winning Contributions: My dedication and leadership were formally recognized with multiple prestigious Boeing Exceptional Performance and Accomplishment Awards. These accolades were granted for excellence in test strategy, robust delivery execution, and successful critical system rollouts.
Agile & TDD Enablement: I actively championed Test-Driven Development (TDD) within SCRUM teams and played a key role in establishing agile practices across cross-functional teams. This cultural shift significantly increased delivery agility, fostered better collaboration, and enhanced overall project responsiveness.
Tool & Platform Modernization: I provided crucial support for the migration of QA workflows from HP Quality Center to Azure DevOps. This modernization effort dramatically improved traceability, expanded test automation potential, and enhanced visibility across the entire development lifecycle.
Multi-Project Engagements: I successfully delivered solutions across six major Boeing projects, demonstrating versatile leadership in test planning, stringent requirements validation, accurate story estimation, and effective stakeholder collaboration across diverse initiatives.
Integration & Data Testing: I led the QA efforts for complex data-centric applications involving various data formats and databases, including flat files, XML, DB2, Oracle, and Teradata. My role extended to overseeing critical database migration testing, ensuring absolute data accuracy during the transition from DB2 to Teradata.
API & Automation Testing: I conducted extensive automation testing for both REST and SOAP APIs using industry-standard tools like Postman and SoapUI. This involved validating integration endpoints, ensuring robust security protocols, and verifying backend services for major airline systems.
Production Support & Migration QA: I provided essential support by verifying production tickets for critical airline applications. Furthermore, I validated complex data migrations from legacy SGML source documents to modern web-based platforms, effectively reducing downstream data integrity issues.
Collaborative Stakeholder Engagement: I maintained close working relationships with Product Owners and Development Leads, ensuring that all QA activities were perfectly aligned with product roadmaps, release schedules, and dynamic change requests, fostering a cohesive development environment.
Where It Took Them
Boeing Canada achieved the successful delivery of the Integrated Supplier Information System (ISIS) and its associated enterprise tools, experiencing minimal post-launch issues. My dual role as Test Lead and Business Analyst ensured high-quality releases, significantly enabled agile maturity across various teams, and played a critical part in modernizing their QA infrastructure. These efforts earned widespread recognition as a key contributor in multiple mission-critical programs.
