Usability Testing Services We Offer

Every engagement is staffed by a senior usability specialist backed by test moderators and data analysts, ensuring your testing is rigorous, insights are clear and recommendations drive meaningful improvements.

01.

Moderated & Unmoderated Testing Sessions

Run both moderated tests where you observe users in real-time and unmoderated tests where users complete tasks independently. Choose the method based on your research questions and timeline.

  • Live moderated testing
  • Asynchronous testing programs
  • Think-aloud protocols

02.

 A/B & Multivariate Test Design

Design and run scientific A/B and multivariate tests to compare design variations. Measure which versions drive higher conversion, engagement or retention. Make data-driven design decisions.

  • Test variant design
  • Statistical analysis
  • Conversion optimization

03.

First-Click & Tree Testing

Use first-click testing to validate if users understand your navigation and can find what they need on first try. Tree testing evaluates information architecture without visual design.

  • First-click testing methodology
  • IA validation
  • Navigation efficiency measurement

04.

Remote Usability Testing Programs

Scale testing with ongoing remote testing programs recruiting 20 to 50+ participants. Run rolling tests to continuously gather user feedback as you iterate and improve.

  • Participant recruitment and screening
  • Remote session facilitation
  • Continuous testing methodology

05.

Session Recording & Heatmap Analysis

Capture session recordings and heatmaps showing where users click, hover and scroll. Analyze patterns across hundreds of sessions to identify usability problems and opportunities.

  • Session recording and playback
  • Click and scroll heatmaps
  • Scroll depth analysis

HOW WE WORK

Our Usability Testing Process

A structured testing process that takes you from research questions to insights in 3 to 4 weeks. You review findings at each stage and own data-backed design decisions.

1
Research Question & Test Planning — Week 1
Define what you need to learn. What design questions do you have? What would change your decisions? Design test scenarios and task flows that will answer these questions.
2
Participant Recruitment & Screening — Week 1
Recruit 10 to 50 participants matching your target user profile. Screen participants to ensure they're representative. Ensure diversity of experience and perspective
3
Moderated & Unmoderated Testing — Weeks 1-2
Run testing sessions (moderated or unmoderated based on your needs). Have users complete core tasks while you observe. Record sessions for later review and analysis.
4
Data Analysis & Pattern Recognition — Week 2-3
Analyze test data including task success rates, time on task, error rates and satisfaction scores. Identify recurring usability problems and patterns across participants.
5
Insight Synthesis & Prioritization — Week 3
Synthesize findings into prioritized insights backed by data. Create recommendation framework showing which design problems to fix first and expected impact of each fix.
6
Findings Presentation & Next Steps — Week 4
Present testing findings with video clips, data visualizations and prioritized recommendations. Discuss which design changes to implement first. Plan iterations and follow-up testing.

Why ZA technologies

Why Product Teams Choose Us for Usability Testing

Actionable Insights
Testing findings we deliver are prioritized and directly connected to design changes. Not academic analysis or report-and-forget. Insights that lead to shipped improvements.
Scalable Testing Programs
Start with small tests (5-10 users) and scale to rolling programs with 50+ participants. Continuous testing that evolves as your product develops and you learn more.
Real Target Users
We recruit actual target users, not crowdsourced panels or convenience samples. You see feedback from people who would actually use your product in the real world.
Data-Driven
Every recommendation is backed by quantitative data (task success rates, time on task) and qualitative insights (user quotes and patterns). No opinions, only evidence.
Speed and Efficiency
Usability testing in 3 to 4 weeks without sacrificing rigor. We use lean testing methodology and remote tools to move fast. Results in time to iterate before launch.
Pre-Launch & Post-Launch
Test prototypes before launch to validate designs. Test production after launch to measure real-world performance and identify improvement opportunities. Testing before and after matters.

FAQS

Usability Testing FAQs

What is usability testing and why should we do it?
Usability testing measures how easily real users can accomplish tasks with your product. It reveals design problems and usability friction before you launch. Teams that test ship designs users understand and love
How many people should we test with?
For most testing, 5 to 10 users reveals 85 percent of major usability problems. Test 10 to 20 for depth and confidence. Beyond 20, you hear the same insights repeatedly unless you're testing new user segments.
Should we test with the full design or just prototypes?
Test early with prototypes to validate concepts. Test again before launch to confirm production works as designed. Test after launch to measure real performance. Test at multiple stages.
What is the difference between moderated and unmoderated testing?
Moderated testing: you watch users in real-time and ask questions. Unmoderated: users complete tasks independently and you analyze recordings. Use moderated for complex questions; unmoderated for volume and speed.
What is A/B testing and when should we use it?
A/B testing compares two design variations to see which performs better. Run A/B tests when you have a specific metric you want to improve (conversion, engagement). Test directional changes where you're confident.
What is first-click testing?
First-click testing measures whether users can find what they need on the first click. High first-click rates indicate clear navigation and mental models. Low rates reveal navigation problems.
How do we measure success in usability testing?
Measure task success rate (did users complete the task?), time on task (how long did it take?), error rate (how many mistakes?) and satisfaction (did users like it?). Track these metrics over time to show improvement.
Should we keep testing after launch?
Yes, test early to validate concepts, test before launch to confirm designs, and test after launch to measure real performance. Establish usability benchmarks and track improvements quarterly as you iterate.
