AI & Automation Engineer

ZA Technologies is a Canadian technology company that helps organizations plan, deliver and stabilize technology in complex operating environments. We are looking for an AI & Automation Engineer to design and build solutions that remove repetitive work, improve data flow and support better decisions.

You will focus on automation that is reliable, explainable and maintainable, with appropriate human oversight, rather than experiments that never reach production.

• Work with clients and ZA teams to understand processes and identify where automation or AI can help.
• Design, build and test automation workflows, integrations and AI-assisted tools.
• Develop solutions using large language models, document processing, workflow automation and APIs where they fit the problem.
• Build in validation, exception handling, logging and human review where outcomes matter.
• Integrate solutions with existing business systems and data sources.
• Document solutions clearly so they can be supported and improved by client teams.
• Monitor solutions after release and improve them based on real usage.
• Apply privacy, security and responsible technology practices in every build.

• 3+ years of software engineering, automation or data engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience building with APIs, integrations and workflow automation tools.
• Practical experience with large language models or machine learning in real applications.
• Good understanding of testing, version control and deployment practices.
• Ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Eligible to work in Canada.
